Softwareload honors Avira Premium Security Suite

Over 400,000 Internet users name the German virus protection software among their favorites

Tettnang, 16 October 2009 – Avira defends its position from last year: Avira Premium Security Suite once again takes second place in the race for the title of “Software of the Year 2009”. Once again this year, Softwareload, the Deutsche Telekom software download portal, asked its Internet users to nominate their favorite software in 14 categories. Over 400,000 users took part in the online poll from 1 to 30 September, ranking Avira Premium Security Suite second in the Security category.

A jury of twelve experts first produced a shortlist of ten programs in each category according to popularity, special functions or innovative character. “Even though we did not succeed in taking the title from the top-ranked product, we are very pleased to have taken second place,” said Travis Witteveen, Head of Sales & Marketing at Avira GmbH. “We would like to thank all those who participated for once again expressing their confidence in our product. To continue to maintain our high-level protection, we are planning to add new technology to our product line for private users in early 2010.”

Avira Premium Security Suite: All-round protection for the whole family

As well as the tried-and-tested virus protection function Avira Premium Security Suite also offers a firewall and game mode, as well as a backup function and parental control feature. This means that even young users can surf the Internet or play games in safety, while adults can rely on this software “Made in Germany” to offer them the security they need for sensitive applications such as online banking. As with all its products, Avira guarantees that Avira Premium Security Suite contains no backdoors for data espionage. Also, despite the extensive functions, the software also features lean programming that will not slow computers down. For more product information see the Avira Premium Security Suite page.
